Where can I find technical documentation about OverTheBox?

Which operators are compatible with OverTheBox?

You can combine any type of connection (xDSL, Fibre, Cable, 3G/4G) from any operator. It is also a good idea to use several technologies and many operators in order to guarantee redundancy.

Why is there only one RJ45 port?

Our OverTheBox is a piece of network equipment which connects to your local network like a computer. You can establish your local network by connecting the modems to each other, by cascading them or using a switch.

Do I need to have a specific network to use OverTheBox?

All computer networks (even the most basic) are compatible with the OverTheBox system. You will therefore be able to use your own Wi-Fi or even your CPL boxes depending on the quality of the electricity network.
However you will have to change some of your boxes' settings, such as the IP address or the DHCP. These modifications are explained in the following setup guide: My first 10 minutes with OverTheBox

What is the maximum speed?

The total speed (after you have added your connections) cannot exceed 250 Mb/s for the OTB service alone and 130Mb/s with the hardware provided by OVH.

Will my public IP change?

Your public IP address will be replaced with an IP provided by OVH which will combine the traffic from your different lines. This will also ensure that you have an active failover so that you don't have any interruptions if you restart a modem. Finally this IP will protect you online by taking advantage of OVH anti-DDoS technology.

Is Wi-Fi included in OverTheBox?

Wi-Fi is not included with OverTheBox. However you can easily use your modems' Wi-Fi or from a dedicated Wi-Fi access point.

Can I choose the datacentre where I want my service to be hosted?

Currently you cannot choose the datacentre for your OverTheBox service. Your service will be hosted in Strasbourg or Gravelines.

Can OverTheBox be used abroad?

OverTheBox can be used on a foreign network (as long as the on-site routers are compatible).

Can I return the equipment provided by OVH?

This equipment is guaranteed for two years. If there is a technical failure with the equipment a standard exchange is possible. You are also entitled to a 14 day withdrawal period after you have signed up to the service, provided that you chose this option when you ordered.

Can I modify my network configuration via OverTheBox (IP, DHCP etc.)?

The OverTheBox system is the central element of your network, it replaces your boxes as the key driver. However you are completely in charge of the configuration of this network. There is a graphic interface which lets you, among other things, modify your IP address, the DHCP and even redirect your ports.

Is IPv6 supported?

For the moment we are only providing an outgoing IPv4. Soon we will include support for IPv6 with OverTheBox.

Can I install OverTheBox on my own equipment?

The image installed on the OverTheBox box is open-source and we provide pre-compiled images ready to be installed, just refer to our guide: Error, link to guide #2257 not found.

What is the OverTheBox delivery time?

If you have order OVH certified compatible hardware, it will be delivered within 24 to 48 hours by DHL.

How does OverTheBox billing work?

It costs £9.99 excl. VAT per month to subscribe to the service, withdrawn from your registered payment method. At the moment only a bank card may be registered as a payment method. This service has no commitment period. The OVH certified compatible hardware is priced at £149,99 excl. VAT (excluding the cost of the port), you are provided with three months free subscription.

Can I virtualise OverTheBox?
