This guide explains the idea of contacts and how to change them from your control panel

Define roles and assign tasks

Introduction

For each OVH service, you have 4 associated contacts who can be identical or different depending on the situation. Each contact has a defined role.

Role of the different contacts

.

Administrative contact

The Administrative contact manages the administrative aspects of the service and can modify all other contacts, except the first and last name of the Owner contact. He/she can also manage the technical aspects of the service if necessary.
.

Technical contact

The Technical contact manages the technical aspects of the service.
.

Billing contact

The Billing contact only has access to billing information and receives reminders for renewals.
.

"Owner" (specific to domains)

The Owner contact specifies the service owner's details. This is only an administrative reference which does not provide access to manage the service. If you are a service provider, the Owner contact must contain your end customer's details. The owner's NIC handle does not have a password and is only used for administrative procedures.

Modify contacts

.

Summary of possible modifications

The Administrative contact can modify all the contacts (billing, technical, administrative).
Technical and Billing contacts cannot modify contacts.
It is possible to modify inter subsidiary contacts under certain conditions:
  • The technical contact can be changed freely.
  • The administrative and billing contacts MUST be in the same subsidiary.
.

Example: the administrative contact wants to be the billing contact

In this example we are assuming that the administrator and billing contacts are different.

  • Click "Log in" to confirm.
Once you are logged in, click on your NIC handle and then My account.
  • In the left-hand menu select: My contacts
A list of all your services will appear by default, you can sort this via the dropdown menu.
We are going to replace the billing contact: currently eszzzzz-ovh, with the administrative contact, currently esxxxxx-ovh.

  • Click on the black pen to the right to edit the different contacts

  • Delete the current billing contact, enter the new contact and confirm.
A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
A validation email is sent from the administrator containing a validation code to enter in the My sent requests tab. The task cannot be completed without this validation.

Select the: My sent requests tab in order to enter the validation code .
You can now enter the code which you received in the popup window.
Once the code is validated, confirmation will appear.
This could take a few minutes.

The task will then appear as complete in the control panel.
An email is sent to the new contact and the old billing contact to inform them of the change.
.

Example: the administrative contact who is also the billing contact, wants to provide information of another billing contact

We are going to assume that the administrative contact and the billing contact are one and the same.

  • Click "Log in" to confirm.
Once logged on, you have to click on your NIC handle and then on My account.
  • In the left-hand menu select: My contacts
A list of all your services will appear by default, you can sort this via the dropdown menu.
We are going to replace the billing contact: currently: esxxxxx-ovh with the administrative contact: currently eszzzzz-ovh.

  • Click on the black pen to the right in order to edit the different contacts

  • Remove the current billing contact, enter the new contact and confirm.
A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
In this case a confirmation email with a validation code is sent to two contacts. It is vital that the two contacts both validate the task in their respective control panels.
You have to select the: My sent requests for the contact who was the originator of the request to modify the billing contact.
The new billing contact has to log in to his/her customer account and then select My received requests in the Manage contacts tab in order to validate this change.
Once the validation is complete, a message will appear.
An email is then sent to the new contact and the old billing contact to inform them of the change
