The first step in creating your HG server is to choose a model. All models are equipped with a 1U or a 2U rack. To guarantee high availability, your server is also equipped with a power supply. You can then customize your configuration using the various high-end components listed below:

The latest generation of very high performance Intel processors is available with our HG servers. We offer you four models, for which our design teams have optimized the choice of the other components offered. These are the Xeon Scalable processors available with your server (single or bi-processor).

Random Access Memory (RAM)

We only use high performance ECC memory, designed to be used in data centres. This memory can be overclocked up to 2 666 MHz on our servers equipped with a Xeon Gold processor.

Our configurations are optimized to use all the memory bandwidth of the Xeon processors.

Depending on the chassis, you can create a configuration ranging from 49 GB to 1.5 TB of RAM.

Software RAID or hardware RAID (optional)

The HG series servers all have an HBA controller. It allows to setup a software RAID for all disks on a machine, i.e. up to 10 disks for a 1U chassis and up to 18 disks for a 2U chassis.

It is also possible to choose a hardware RAID controller as an option to connect all the disks (SATA, SAS or NVMe) in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Disk selection

Disk selection is determined by the size of the slots and the number of available connections (SATA/SAS and NVMe).

HD-HDD

Our 12 Gbits/s SAA hard drives (HDDs)

Offering an excellent price-to-storage volume ratio, they are designed for massive data storage, static files, backup and archiving. Their lifespan of more than 2 million hours guarantees the durability of your data.

HD-SATA

Our 6 Gbit/s SATA 3 SSDs (up to 95,000 IOPS)

With a much higher velocity (25% to 30%) than conventional hard disks, the SSDs chosen by OVH guarantee a very long service life. Designed for data centres, they are ideal for installing a system, business applications or storage solution, with the best cost-performance ratio.

HD-SAS

Our 12 Gbit/s SAS SSDs (up to 400,000 IOPS)

With the same advantages as SATA 3 SSDs, these drives take advantage of the SAS interface to offer higher data rates. The IOPS are multiplied by 5.

HD-nvme

Our NVMe SSDs (up to 700,000 IOPS)

As opposed to hard disks and SSD SATA drives, they use a PCI Express x8 slot. This results in even faster processing times. In addition, NVMe SSDs provide regular throughput and IOPS while providing a lifetime of at least 2 million hours.

HD-optane

Our 3D SSDs XPoint Intel Optane (up to 550,000 IOPS)

Intel Optane SSDs are the new generation of storage. They combine the advantages of SSDs with persistent RAM memory. These disks are particularly optimized for random activities, with very short queues (QD2). They also benefit from an equivalent IOPS value in reading and writing.
