HostingCon Miami: OVH.com continues its North American Tour
From June 16 to 18, leading professionals in web hosting and cloud computing met in Miami for the HostingCon’s 10th annual event. It was a stage for double celebration as OVH.com had just passed the threshold of 50,000 clients in North America in barely one year, reinforcing its steady growth on the international market. This historic player of the web hosting industry and pioneer of the cloud revolution since 2011 comes in 2014 with a strong offer to back up its global expansion. The success of the OVH World Tour, which was launched in March 2014, is also clear evidence of this growth. After a stop in Montreal in May, OVH.com will meet its audience in New York, San Francisco, and Toronto before the end of the year. HostingCon Miami is the most recent stop on this North American Tour.
The OVH.com team led by Germain Masse, Global Data Center Manager, made a trip to sunny Florida to meet web hosting and cloud computing professionals. Over three intense days, 150 exhibitors from all over the world got together to analyze new trends, introduce new products, and share knowledge on cloud computing. This was a worthwhile effort for a 150 billion dollar industry, which has grown three-fold since 2008 (46 billion dollars)*.
Being committed to a policy of continuous innovation, OVH.com spared no effort to stand out and, in the words of Germain Masse, introduce the attendees to “the OVH experience”. Instead of a traditional booth, visitors were welcomed into a black cube containing a mass of information about OVH.com, its global standing and its unique technology. A hologram at the center of the cube allowed visitors to catch a glimpse of the BHS data center, OVH.com’s North American jewel. Eventually the biggest in the world (intended to house 360,000 servers in the near future), this data center is constantly beating records in terms of energy efficiency (Power Usage Effectiveness or PUE of 1.1, meaning half the PUE of an average server farm, which is between 1.7 and 2.0). “Visitors were particularly impressed by our cooling system,” said Mathieu Fortin, SysAdmin at OVH.com in Montreal. The company has been perfecting this unique technology since 2004, which evacuates 70% of the heat generated by servers.
Once the audience’s attention was captured, the OVH.com on-site team shared their expertise and knowledge. The services in North America have been developed over the past few months. In addition to its extensive line of dedicated servers and cloud services, OVH.com now offers Virtual Private Servers (VPS), combining total freedom and an unparalleled price-performance ratio; one week server rental, an OVH.com exclusive offering maximum flexibility; and the vRack, a groundbreaking technology that allows clients to build secure hybrid global infrastructures. Two other brands in the OVH galaxy also featured at the event: hubiC, a complete web-based storage service, and RunAbove, a high-performance public cloud solution.
Next stop in North America: September 21, New York.
