OVH.com wins big at VMware Partner Exchange 2013 in Las Vegas
As they do every year, 4,000 partners of VMware met in Las Vegas for the VMware Partner Exchange – or PEX. This large conference of the world leader in virtualization was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from February 25th to 28th.
The weekend’s schedule included conferences, product presentations by VMware experts, official announcements about future projects and mainly an awards ceremony by VMware to reward its most efficient and deserving partners. Hélène Caraux, Cloud Products Manager and Alban Schmutz, Business Development Vice President at OVH.com made the trip and were not disappointed!
OVH.com wins twice!
February 26th was particularly intense for OVH’s two representatives as the hosting provider won for its Private Cloud solution, not one… but two awards! In the morning, OVH.com received for the second time in a row the award for the Service Provider Program Partner 2013 for the EMEA region from the hands of Andy Hunt, Vice President of VMware's Partner Organization in EMEA. However, the biggest surprise of the day came when OVH.com won the Global Service Provider award. It was given that same evening during an awards ceremony, as the CEO and COO of VMware were in attendance. The involvement and originality of the teams at OVH.com were underlined: “They go to work in jeans and sneakers! They are legitimate geeks, and it is that passion that got them this award!” said the host of the evening.
“It is unexpected, and a great honor for OVH.com!, claims Hélène Caraux. It means that, for VMware, we are their best Service Provider in the world. A few weeks before the launch of our Cloud initiative in North America, it demonstrates the trust that the world leader in virtualization places in us.” For Octave Klaba, founder of OVH.com, “it means that what our teams are conceiving and building for our clients is cutting edge and a model for VMware’s partners across the world. This award is a token of our ingenuity in using VMware’s standard software to create the basis of our private Cloud computing service, which gives more guaranties than the public Cloud.” Pat Gelsinger, VMware’s CEO mentioned that he was very impressed with the hosting provider from Roubaix and wishes them the same success in America that they have in Europe.
Outside of the awards ceremony, VMware presented to its partners the Cloud Purchasing Program. Indeed, clients who wish to do so will soon be able to purchase Cloud credits directly from VMware, to then spend them through different Service Providers, handpicked by VMware. At the launch of this program this March, only twelve partners around the world, including OVH.com, will be able to provide payment through “Cloud credits”.
